よしきは、何年も自分から話しかけることのなかった父・俊紀の書斎の扉を叩く。光の父・晃平とともに「息子たちにまで背負わせたくない」と終わらせたはずの因習にふれられ、戸惑いながらも語りだす俊紀。そこには光の祖父が口にした「ヒチさん」のこと、そして飢餓で死んだとされる村人たちにまつわる真実が秘められていた……。
Yoshiki takes the initiative to speak with his father, Toshinori, for the first time in years, knocking on the door of his study. Though hesitant at first, Toshinori begins to talk about an old tradition that he and Hikaru's father, Kohei, did not want their children to bear and had once tried to put to rest. What he reveals includes the truth behind “Hichi-san,” once mentioned by Hikaru’s grandfather, and the dark secret of the villagers said to have died from starvation…
